Cooking for the Unhoused

Mochi Sale

Our Chief Operating Officer, Amy, and our Chief Marketing Officer, Leah, worked together with the help of their parents to hold a mochi gift basket sale at a local performance to raise money and awareness for our cause.

Fried Rice

Neighborhood Teens has continuously cooked and distributed a weekly average of 70-80 servings of fried rice for the unhoused people of St. James Park in Downtown San Jose (partnership with Octavia's Kitchen) since June 2020.

Wonton Chips

Our Chief Operating Officer, Amy, created her own brand of chips, Amy's Wonton Chips. These chips were given out along with the fried rice weekly and rationed in the mochi gift baskets.

Congee

Our Chief Operating Officer, Amy, started making congee as winter approached. Neighborhood Teens distributed a weekly average of 25-35 servings of congee along with fried rice for unhoused people.

Brownies

Our Chief Marketing Officer's sister, Sarah, worked to prepare fresh brownies each week for the unhoused. Sarah served about 400 servings of brownies by May of 2022.

Rice Crispies

Our Chief Marketing Officer's sister, Sarah prepared about 250 servings of rice crispies throughout the fall of 2021 to be served to the people of St. James Park(in partnership with Octavia's Kitchen).
