Their Stories

As a partnership with The United Effort Organization (UEO), we are working to write out stories of a variety of currently or formerly homeless people to raise awareness in an attempt to alter the stereotypes. This is a bilingual journaling project (Mandarin and English) with the writers and editors from Neighborhood Teens and UEO supplying us with clients to interview and write about. Homelessness can often be seen as a burden or an embarrassment to society. Unhoused individuals are often stereotyped as mentally unstable or people who didn't work hard enough to earn themselves a sheltered life. What people don't see is that they all have their hardships that are often overlooked. Our mission is to bring understanding of this mistreated population to society by sharing their unheard stories in hope to change the perspective of our viewers like you. We hope to bring awareness about the truth behind this maltreated group of people and hopefully lead the public to acts of kindness instead of oppression.
